Bill relating to Red Oak Hogshead Shooks, was read a third time & passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.

A communication was received from Amos Nichols Esqr Secretary of State, transmitting a Report of the Committee appointed under a Resolve of the last Legislature, to examine the New System of Surveying proposed by Jabez P Bradbury - and the same were referred to the Committee on Literature & Literary Institutions in concurrence with the Senate.

The joint Committee to whom was referred an order directing them to inquire into the expediency of altering the existing laws relative to the duties of School Committees &c - reported that alteration is inexpedient - read & accepted. Sent up for concurrence.

Petition of Palermo to be set off from Waldo & annexed to Lincoln County of John W Patten & als to be set off from Palmyra to Pittsfield also Remonstrance of Eli Ayer & als agst annexation of Palermo to Lincoln County of Henry Warren & als agst the petition of John W Patten & als - which were severally referred to the committee on incorporation of towns. Sent up for concurrence.

Petition of Edward E Bourne & als in behalf of the Athenaean Society of Bowdoin College to be incorporated - of Jabez P Bradbury in relation to his new system of Surveying - were read & referred to the committee on Literature &c. Sent up for concurrence.

Remonstrance of Ira Tish agst the petition of Benjamin Fisk & als was read & referred to the committee on Turnpikes &c. Sent up for concurrence.
