143 1862 June 1 Chickahominy.

Three divisions of our army engaged the enemy yesterday on the left, or rather three corps -- Sumner's, Keyes, and Heintzleman - At first we were driven back; but finally Kearney with his division pressed the enemy back again, leaving us in possession of the field.

One of Genl. Johnston's aids was captured by our troops and carried to McClellan's head quarters. We have not yet heard the facts in detail.

Genl. McClellan however telegraphs from the other side of the Chickahominy that we have routed the enemy at every point and gained a great victory.
