[top right corner >] 5 was duly organized by the election of Thomas Davee, Esquire, Speaker and James L. Child, Clerk.

On motion of Mr. Chandler, ordered that the Secretary of the Senate be authorize to appoint his Assistant, and Albert Pilsbury [bold] was according- ly appointed.

On motion of Mr. Chandler, ordered, that the Messenger of the Senate be authorized to appoint a Door keeper; and Robert Martin [bold] was accordingly appointed.

Ordered, on motion of Mr. Emmons, that the Rules and Orders of 1834 be the Rules and Orders of this Board until the adoption of new ones.

Mr. Miller [bold] of Waldo appeared and was conducted to the Governor and Council, by Mr. Prescott, was qualified and took his seat at the Senate Board.

The Secretary of State came in and laid upon the table the returns of votes for Senators in several towns and plantations of this State; and on motion of Mr. Randall, the same were committed to Messrs. Tobin, Randall, Miller, Bartlett, Greene, Latham and Allen.
