Monday February 23 1835.

Met according to adjournment.

The committee to whom was referred an order to enquire whether any member or members are absent longer than are allowed by the rules of the House, reported in part that there are now nearly one half of the members absent, and in order to make it certain, recommend that the Roll of the House be called - and the report was accepted - the Roll of the House called by which it appeared that forty eight members were absent from their seats -

On motion of Mr. Mowry of Lubec Ordered that two members be added to the aforenamed Committee - and Messrs. Woodman of Buxton & Cony of Orono were appointed accordingly.

Report of the joint standing committee of the Judiciary to whom was referred an order relative to the increase of witnesses fees before Justices of the Peace, that legislation on the subject is expedient, was accepted in concurrence with the Senate.

Bill repealing part of an Act providing for the promotion of Education, was read once and tomorrow at 10 oclock assigned for a 2d. reading.

Resolve in favor of Titcomb Belgrade Academy was read twice, and the further consideration of the subject postponed until Wednesday next at 10 o'clock

Bill - in addition to an act to incorporate the City of Bangor, was recommitted to the committee which reported the same in concurrence with the Senate.
