House in referring said petition to the Committee on the Judiciary, and refer the the same to a Joint Select Committee, consisting, on the part of the Senate, of Messrs. Prescott, Burnham and Latham, with such as the House may join. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred, and Messrs O'Brien of Brunswick, Hodgman of Warren, Scammon of Pittston, Vose of Knox and Mowry of Lubec are joined.

On motion of Mr Barnard, Ordered that the Joint Select Committee to which was referred the report of the Treasurer of the State, be directed to inquire what amount in money has been received by the State on account of the claims of Massachusetts on the United States, for services rendered by the Militia during the last war - what part thereof has been paid out in discharge of State debts - - - how much remains as a permanent School fund, and what distribution of the interest thereof has been made, or it may be expedient to make, according to the provisions of an Act passed Feb. 23, 1828, with leave to report by Bill or otherwise - - - read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

Bill authorizing the Supreme Judicial Court to grant leave to the guardians of Insane persons to make a conveyance of real estate in certain cases (reported by Mr Emmons from the Committee on the Judiciary, on an order of the 15th instant, relative to the same) read once and tomorrow at ten o'clock assigned for a second reading.
