Saturday, January 31, 1835

A message was received from the Governor King known to the Legislature that a vacancy now exists in the office of Major General of the fourth Division of the Militia of this State -- read and sent down.

Petition of John Burnham and others for the repeal of the Act constituting the lock sluice through the dam be longing to the Eastern River Lock and Sluice Company at the mills on said River in Orland, passed February 25, 1875, was taken up. The Senate reced from their vote of the 28th in referring said petition to the Committee on Turnpikes, Bridges and Canals and concur with the House in referring said petition to the Committee on Interior Fisheries.

Petition of Elijah Grover and others for the renewal of a Charter for building a bridge across the Kennebec River at Saratunk Falls -- read and referred to the Committee on Turnpikes, Bridges and Canals, in concurrence.

Remonstrance of Samuel Billings and others against the building of a bridge over tide waters in Bluehill - read and referred to the Committee on Turnpikes, Bridges and Canals. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

Petition of Exchange Bank, Petition of Casco Bank for increase of Capital were, on motion of Mr Chandler, taken up and referred to the Committee on Banks and Banking in concurrence.
