Order from the House of Representatives instructing the Joint Select Committee that have under consideration the subject of the Lottery granted for the benefit of Steam Navigation to inquire into the expediency of providing by law for the appointment of an Auditor to adjust the accounts of the managers of the Oxford and Cumberland Canal Lottery -- read and on motion of Mr. Emmons, ordered to lie on the table.
On motion of Mr. McLellan, Ordered that the Joint Select Committee to which was referred an order to inquire into the expediency of repealing an Act entitled "An Act for the education of Youth" approved March 4, 1835, be directed to inquire into the propriety or expediency of repealing the 20th section of an Act entitled "An Act for the education of Youth" approved March 4, 1834, and report by bill or otherwise -- read and passed.
Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.
Order from the House of Representatives requesting the Senate to take from the files of 1834, the Remonstrances of the inhabitants of the towns of Castine, Penobscot, Brooksville and Deer Isle against the petitions to remove the Judicial Courts from Castine to Ellsworth, and send the same to the House of Representatives -- read and passed, in concurrence and said Remonstrances were accordingly sent to the House.
Bill to incorporate the Augusta High School was read the second time & passed to be engrossed. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.
