Petition of Peter Carle and others praing [praying] for an appropriation for an Academy at Princeton - severally read and referred to the Committee on Literature and Literary Institutions in concurrence.

Petition of the town of Fryeburg, praying for toll Bridge across Saco River on Said town, Remonstrance of Joseph Badger and others against the petition of Joseph Sewall and others for a Bridge across Androscoggin River -- severally read and referred to the Committee on Turnpikes, Bridges, and Canals, in concurrence.

On motion of Mr. Prescott, the following preamble and order were read and passed, to wit, Whereas certain inhabitants of the town of Perry in the County of Penobscot have petitioned the Legislature for indemnity and remuneration on account of damages in their wood and timber lands, committed by the Indians in their neighborhood, therefore, Ordered, that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of providing by law against such depredations in future. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

Order from the House of Representatives requesting the Committee on Banks and Banking to inquire into the expediency of prohibiting by law, the circulation of any Bank note or notes, issued from Banks out of this State and of this State of a less denomination than Five Dollars, and report by Bill or otherwise -- read and the same, on motion of Mr. Chandler, was ordered to lie on the table.
