On motion of Mr. Bartlett, Ordered, that a message be sent to the House of Representatives and also to the Governor and Council, informing those Branches respectively that in consequence of the absence of Josiah Pierce Esquire, President of the Senate, the Senate have elected Anson G. Chandler, President pro tem -- which messages were delivered by the Secretary.
On motion of Mr. Miller Ordered, that the Joint Standing Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of increasing the fees for the attendance of witnesses who shall be summoned to attend Courts held by Justices of the Peace -- read and passed. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.
