Bill repealing certain provisions of an Act establishing and regulating the fees of the several officers and other persons therein mentioned was read once and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary, in concurrence.
On motion of Mr. Barnard, Ordered, that the Secretary of State be directed to lay before the Senate a list of the last returns of the Selectmen of towns and Assessors of Cities and plantations, containing the number of scholars in such towns, plantations and Cities, directed by law to be made to the Secretary's office, for the purpose of distributing the Bank tax, and also a list of such towns and plantations as have failed to make returns or have made illegal returns -- read and passed.
Bill to incorporate the Lincoln Central Bank (reported by Mr. Brown from the Committee on Banks and Banking, on petition of William M. Boyd and others) was read once and on motion of Mr. Prescott, ordered to lie on the table.
