Bill additional to an Act to incorporate the City of Portland was read the second time --- the Senate nonconcur with the House in passing said Bill to be engrossed, and indefinitely postpone the same. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

Bill to incorporate the Merry Meeting Bridge was read the second time. Mr. Purinton moved to amend said Bill by striking out in the 3d Sec. the words "seventy five" and insert in lieu thereof the words, one hundred; and the question of thus amending, being ordered to be taken by years and nays, was decided in the negative as follows, to wit. Yeas. Messrs. Brown, Clark, Fish, F. Greene, Latham, McIntire, Purinton and Smith, 8. Nays. Messrs. Allen, Barnard, Bartlett, Burnham, Chandler, Emmons, Farnham, Mantor, McLellan, Pierce, Prescott, Randall, Read and Tobin, 14. And said Bill was passed to be engrossed as amended by the House, in concurrence.

Bill additional to an Act respecting Wills and Testaments and regulating the descent of intestate estates and to limit the liability of the husband for the debts of the wife, contracted before marriage, was read the second time and amended by striking out the two last sections of the Bill and the same was passed to be engrossed as amended.
