Agreement made this thirtieth day of March, eighteen hundred & twenty, by and between Francis Joseph, Governor of the Passamaquoddy Tribe of Indians, with the advice and consent of the Lieutenant Governor, the Captains & Council of said Tribe, for and in behalf of said Tribe of Indians, on one hand, and Abner Hill and Stephen Hill, on the other part, as follows, to wit:

 The said Francis Joseph, with the advice + 

consent of the Lieutenant Governor, Captains and Council of said Tribe, for the consideration herein after mentioned, does hereby lease and let, unto the said, Abner and Stephen Hill, the whole and every part of the Township of land belonging to said Tribe, lying on the western side of Schoodic River, beginning at, or near the mouth of Tomers Stream, so called, with full liberty, leave and license, to cut all the hay, on said Township, and also to cut and haul all kinds of logs and timber thereon, to clear and make roads, and to do every thing else necessary and convenient to the full, free and entire occupation of said Township, for the term of two years from the first day of April next.

    And the said Abner Hill and Stephen Hill do

hereby promise and agree to pay to said Francis Joseph, for the said Tribe of Indians, the sum of ten hundred and fifty dollars per annum, one half in cash and the other half in goods at current prices; the payments for the first year, to be made one third the first of July, one third the first of September, and one third the first of Novem ber, eighteen hundred and twenty one; and for the second year, one third the first of July, September and November, eighteen hundred and twenty two.--------- Abner Hill [?] Francis Joseph x Stephen Hill Joseph, [?] x
