[Report of Committee of Elections]

[R.K.J. Porter]

The report on the subject of the election of Rufus K. J. Porter was called up and on motion ordered to be recommitted.

Petition of John G. Coffin of Boston Guardian of William Turner a non compos mentis, for authority to sell the lands in Maine belonging to his ward &c &c was read & referred to Messrs Joseph Adams of Portland Hopkinson & Spring of Saco.

[Annual Report of Treasurer]

A communication was received from the Commissioner of the Treasurer transmitting an Annual Report on the State of Finances, which was read & ordered to lie on the table - and two hundred copies in the meantime to be printed for the use of the members.

[Scribe to be employed]

Ordered That the Secretary of State be requested to employ some suitable person as a scribe whose duty it shall be to assist the members of this House in drawing & copying Bills, Resolves & Reports &c.

[R.K.J. Porter & Thomas Allen to vacate seats, until &c.]

Ordered that Messrs R. K. J. Porter & Thomas Allen Esqr who both claim seats in this House as Representatives from the class composed of the towns of Phillips, Freeman & Kingfield be requested to vacate their seats until the decision of the House as to which of them if either was duly elected - read & passed.

[Report of Committee of Elections]

The committee to whom was recommitted the report of the committee on the subject of the return of members from the District composed of Phillips &c &c made a further report and tomorrow at 10 oclock assigned to take it into consideration & 200 copies ordered to be printed.

Petition of Saml Gibson & als of Denmark for an alteration of the time of holding the Courts in Oxford - was read & referred to committee on New trials. Sent up for concurrence.
