Petition of William Haskell to be refunded the amount of the sum paid by him as a duty on his admission to practice as an Attorney was read & referred to Messrs Ingalls, Isaac Adams & Fitch.

[Resolve - Bennet Pike]

Resolve in favor of Bennet Pike &c & came from the Senate in a new draft for concurrence & was on motion referred to the last mentioned committee.

[Wm B Sewall - appointed Scribe]

A communication was received from the Secretary of State informing the House that he had engaged William B Sewall Esq to perform the duties of Scribe in compliance with the order of yesterday.

[Moses Davis engaged as Door Keeper -]

The Committee appointed to engage a Door Keeper & Page to the House reported that they had contracted with Moses Davis to perform those duties at $ 4.50 per day - report accepted.

[additions to Committee on State Lands]

Messrs Marsh & Hutchinson were appointed on the Committee on State Lands in addition to those heretofore appointed.

[Annexation of North Salem to Class of Phillips &c]

Ordered that Messrs Sweat, White & Merrill of Gorham be a committee to consider the expediency of annexing the town of North Salem to the Representative class of Phillips, Freeman & Kingfield - read & passed.

[Report - Thomas Parsons & als]

Report on the petition of Thomas Parsons & als, granting leave to withdraw - was read & accepted.

[- disposition of Laws of U. States in Secy Office.]

Ordered that Messrs Russell, Penley & Riggs be a committee to consider what disposition shall be made of the copies of the laws of the United States, now in the Secretary's office - also to consider the expediency of presenting a copy of the Laws & resolves of this State to the Library of the Maine Historical Society with leave to report by bill or otherwise - read & passed
