[Secy of State to lay before Legislature returns of Deaf & Dumb]

An order came from the Senate for concurrence, directing the Secretary of State to lay before this Legislature all returns made to his office, pursuant to a Resolve passed February 6 1823 to ascertain the number of deaf and dumb persons in this State - & the House concurred.

[Conference - on Resolve in favor of Adjt General.]

An order came from the Senate appointing Messrs McDonald & Dunlap & Chandler a committee of conference on the Resolve in favor of the Adjutant General - The House on their part appointed Messrs Cummings, Slemmons & Spring of Biddeford.

[Deaf & Dumb]

A communication was received from the Secretary of State transmitting the returns of deaf and dumb persons, in obedience to the order of the House of yesterday, which with the accompanying papers was referred to Messrs Hutchinson, Dunn of Cornish & Marsh, with such as the Senate may join. Sent up for concurrence.

[Report - minsters - taxation]

The committee of this House on the subject of exempting ministers from taxation, reported a Bill - report accepted.

[Bill - ministers not to pay taxes &c]

Bill authorizing assessors of towns & plantations to abate the taxes of ministers of the Gospel in certain cases, was read 1 & 2d time and then on motion indefinitely postponed.

Adjourned until 3 oclock this afternoon.

[Resolve - A.G. Chandler & Rufus K Lane]

Resolve relating to the accounts of A. G. Chandler and Rufus K Lane, was read twice & passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.
