The original report last named was received in the House yesterday, with the following words erased therefrom "the petitioners have leave to withdraw their petition" and with the following certificate thereon "In Senate February 18th 1824 Read and accepted as amended by striking out from A to B. & inserting the words on sheet annexed. Sent down for concurrence - Benj. Ames. President - the words on the sheet annexed are the following "Phillip Morrell & others of Belfast cause an attested copy of their petition with this order thereon to be published in the Eastern Argus, Portland Gazette & Independent Statesman newspapers printed in Portland, and in the Hancock Gazette & Penobscot Patriot printed at Belfast three weeks successively the last publication to be sixty days at least before the first Wednesday of the first session of the next Legislature, that all persons interested may then appear & shew cause if any they have, why the prayer of said Petition should not be granted". The erasure in said original report was not made by any of the Committee who made the report, but by the President of the Senate. Upon the question yesterday to the House, whether the House would concur with the Senate in accepting the report of said committee & passing the order of notice, it was determined that the House would not concur - it was thereupon moved that the House accept the original report of the joint committee giving the petitioners leave to withdraw, but the Speaker being unable to find such original report determined that no such motion could be sustained until the original report was upon the table - whereupon the following order was passed by the House "Ordered that a Message be sent to the Senate, requesting them to send down the original report of the joint committee of both Houses on the petition of Philip Morrell & others, as the House cannot act upon the amendments made to that report by the Senate (which are now before the House) without having the original - read & passed. - Sent up." which message was delivered to,
