Friday January 7th 1825.

Met according to adjournment.

Ordered (on motion of Mr McCobb) that a message be sent to the Senate proposing a convention of both branches of the Legislature in the Representatives chamber at 11 oclock today for the purpose of coming to the choice of seven Counsellors to advise the Governor in the executive part of the government the ensuing political year and also to choose a Secretary of State - read & passed and the Clerk communicated the message accordingly.

A message was received from the Senate agreeing to the proposition.

Mr Boutelle from the committee on the part of the House, to wait on the Governor elect & inform him that the Legislature are proceeding on the public business &c. &c. reported that he was pleased to say he would send a written communication to both branches at 12 oclock this day.

Ordered that the standing committee on Engrossed Bills - and also the committee on Bills in the 3d reading, consist of five members each. - read & passed.

Agreeably to assignment the two branches met in the Representatives chamber and proceeded by ballot to the election of seven Counsellors, and on counting the ballots it appeared the whole number given in was One hundred & fifty five - necessary to a choice Seventy eight, Daniel Wood Esqr one hundred & eight - William Chadwick Esquire, one hundred & seven - Jonathan Thayer Esqr eighty five, Daniel Merrill Esqr one hundred & twenty six - Abraham Morrill Esqr one hundred & seventeen - Elias Stowell Esqr one hundred & fifty three & Daniel Wilkins Esqr one hundred & eight - and they were severally duly elected. The convention then proceeded by ballot to the election of
