41. respecting a public standard of Weights and Measures for the use of the State - and the House concurred.

Ordered that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of altering the times of holding the Court of Sessions for the County of Cumberland - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

An order came from the Senate for concurrence, instructing the Committee on the Judiciary to inquire into the expediency of so altering & amending the laws for the benefit of Poor debtors, as to provide a more effectual relief for the Creditor, than at present exists - and the House concurred.

Bill in addition to an act to incorporate the Kennebec Steam Navigation Company, was read a third time & passed to be engrossed. Sent up for concurrence.

An order came from the Senate instructing the committee on the Judiciary to inquire into the expediency of purchasing by the State a proper number of the third volume of Greenleafs Reports; and providing for the disposition of the same, for concurrence, and the House concurred.

Bill to cede to the United States of America, the jurisdiction of the Island or Rock called Mantinicus Rock off Penobscot Bay; also a certain lot of land on Pemaquid Point in the town of Bristol, reported by the committee to whom the subject was referred, was read a 1st 2nd & 3d time & passed to be engrossed. Sent up for concurrence.

The Speaker laid before the House a communication from John Paine Esq Auditor of the State Prison, transmitting his report & which was referred to the Committee on the State Prison. Sent up for concurrence.
