Senate to the Committee on the State Prison.

A communication was received from the Governor under date of 29th ult [see appendix page 352] transmitting the report of William D Williamson, one of the Bank Commissioners, which was read and referred in concurrence with the Senate to the Committee on Banks & Banking.

Bill to set off a tract of land from Lewiston to Greene was read 1st & 2d time & tomorrow at ten 'clock assigned for a 3d reading.

Report on the order instructing the Committee on State Roads to enquire into the expediency of making an appropriation to pay the contingent expenses for the survey of a road from Augusta to some point on the highlands in a direction to Quebec, that legislation is inexpedient was accepted in concurrence with the Senate.

Report on the communication of Charles Jarvis Esq respecting the United States Military Mars Hill Road that the same be accepted together with said Road, was accepted in concurrence with the Senate.

The report of the joint standing committee on the Judiciary upon the petition of Nathan Nutter & others, reported leave to withdraw - report accepted in concurrence with the Senate.

On motion by Mr. Jarvis of Ellsworth, Ordered, That the committee on Finance be instructed to examine the valuation of the town of Kingfield in the county of Somerset, and correct an error of twelve hundred dollars in the east of the woodlands, by which the valuation of the town was increased to that amount, and a consequent increase
