On motion of Mr Johnson. Ordered, that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire into the expediency of repealing all laws now in force in this State for restraining the taking of excessive usury. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

The Committee on Literature and Literary Institutions to which was referred Bill to establish an Academy at Princeton, reported that said Bill ought not to pass - read and accepted in concurrence.

Mr Staples from the Committee on Claims, reported leave to withdraw on petition of William McLaughlin - read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

Resolve for the appointment of a Commissioner of the Insane Hospital came up from the House recommitted. The Senate recede from their former vote passing said Resolve to be engrossed and recommit the same in concurrence.

Bill to incorporate the Hancock and Penobscot Rail Road Company (reported by Mr Clark from the Committee on Rail Roads and Canals on petition of Daniel Waldo) was read once and 400 copies of the same, on motion of Mr Greene were ordered to be printed for the use of the members.
