I do not think a dozen cases would require the time of one man constantly. Ques. You know that Dr. Choate in his farmers hospital in New York takes about a dozen patients. Ans. I do not know how many he does take, I know him very well. Ques. Do you no suppose that Dr. Choate can treat the patients in his hospital better than if he was over your hospital and had charge of 400. Ans. I dare say. Ques. Do you think that two physicians in your hospital can give all the time and attention necessary to the treatment medically. Ans. Yessir. Ques. Do you think that they can do all that a larger corps of physicians could. Ans. A larger corps could not do much more in the way of medicine. Ques. In the moral treatment. Ans. They could spend more time with individuals, but those who go out to work would not require a medical man. Ques. About how many attendants are there. Ans. We employ about 40, 20 of each sex I think. Ques. Those are regular attendants, all of them. Ans. Some of the, are for private patients, some are for the sick, some are night attendants, night watches.
