Mr Ham announced that Stephen Woodman, Senator elect from the first Senatorial District and Nathaniel S. Littlefield, Senator elect from the Second Senatorial District, are in attendance and ready to take and subscribe the necessary oaths. They were conducted by Ham to the Governor and Council, before whom they took and subscribed the oaths required by the Constitution to qualify them to enter upon the discharge of their official duties and took their seats at the Senate Board.
Communications were received from William Dunn, Joseph Johnson, Josiah Merrow; David W. Lothrop and Samuel Veasee, Councilors elect, signifying their acceptance, and readiness to take and subscribe the oath of office - read and sent down.
A communication was received from Asaph X. Nichols, Secretary of State elect, signifying, his acceptance - read and sent down.
On motion of Mr Littlefield, Ordered, that a message be sent to the House of Representatives, proposing a Convention of both Branches of the Legislature in the Representatives Chamber, forthwith, for the purpose of administering the oaths of office to William Dunn, Joseph Johnson, Josiah Merrow, David W.
