6 On the Transport Marimack [Merrimack]

it appeard to be gliding away behind, and at last disappearing behind the deep blue sea. We had a very pleasant voige, and passed many vesels on our way. On the 5th in the P.M. we stoped in the Chesapeak [Chesapeake] bay and cast anchor to lay till morning.

Sept 6th A fine day, and we proceeded up the Potomac river which was a splendid oportunity for us to give our eyes a feast for they had got hungary for land, for we had eaven been out of sight of land a part of the time after leaving Boston.
