Duties--ascertain the number of school districts in each county, the number of school houses and their values, the average amount of stationary and books furnished each scholar annually, the number of pupils male and female, the amount of public and private donations, and any other useful statistical facts.

Members--1 from each county appointed by the Governor with advice and consent of the Council.

Duties--examine the practical operation of those parts of the Constitution and laws of the State which provide for public education, and the diffusion of knowledge among the people.
