Septr 18th 1839

E Packard this evening at 7 o clock [?] the goods seized as the property of Webster Pilsbury & Taylor to wit 6 bbls[?] pork & 6 bbls[?] of flour. after consultation upon the matter with Mr Gouch[?] it was determined that the better course would be to allow the legal steps to be taken.

The copy of said writ is as follows

State of Maine

Aroostic [Aroostook[ SS.

To the Sheriff of one county of Aroostic [Aroostook] or his deputy greeting

We command for that you replevy the goods and chattels following viz

Six barrells [barrels] of Pork and six barrells [barrels] of flour of the value of five hundred dollars

The property of Ebenser [Ebenezer] Webster John [?] Pilsbury & James Taylor

Taken and detained by William P Parrott at Fort Fairfield in said county of Aroostook gentleman

And them deliver to the said Ebenser [Ebenezer] Webster and John [?] Pilsbury of Orono in the county of Penobscot Gentlemen and James Tailor [Taylor] of [?] in the province of New Brunswick Gentleman

Provided the Same are not taken and detained on mesne process Warrant of District[?] or upon execution as the property of said plantiffs and Summon the said Parrott that he appear before one Justices of our district Court next to be holden at Houlton within and for our county of Aroostic [Aroostook] on the third Tuesday of January next to Answer unto the said Webster Pilsbury and Tailor [Taylor] in a plea of Replevin for that the said Parrott on the fourteenth day of
