However, the tissue-specific function of cryptochromes in atherosclerosis is unknown. We transplanted bone marrow from wild-type (WT) and cryptochrome 1/2 knockout (Cry1/2 KO) mice into irradiated recipient low-density lipoprotein receptor knockout (LDLR-/- ) mice and induced atherosclerosis with a high cholesterol diet for 12 weeks. Cyclosporin A There was a reduction in atherosclerotic plaques and macrophage accumulation in the aorta of LDLR-/- mice that received Cry1/2 KO bone marrow compared to mice that received WT bone marrow. Bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs) from Cry1/2 KO mice exhibited impaired uptake of low-density lipoprotein, and subsequently, impaired foam cell formation. Analysis of macrophage mRNA circadian oscillations revealed that the circadian rhythm of the LDLR mRNAs was lost in Cry1/2 KO BMDMs. Reinstalling the circadian oscillatory LDLR mRNAs using adenovirus into the BMDMs was able to rescue the lipid uptake and foam cell formation function. However, the noncircadian oscillatory LDLR mRNAs exhibited reduced ability to rescue the macrophage functions. These findings indicate that cryptochromes in bone marrow-derived cells are critical mediators of atherosclerosis through regulation of the LDLR mRNA circadian rhythm. Therapeutic measures targeting cryptochromes in the macrophage may have important implications for atherosclerosis.This study was conducted to assess the effects of different dose levels of zinc oxide (ZnO) combined with probiotics complex supplementation on the growth, performance, nutrient digestibility, faecal lactobacillus and Enterobacteria counts, noxious gas emissions and faecal score of weaned piglets. A total of 180 crossbred weaning pigs ([Yorkshire × Landrace] × Duroc; 6.61 ± 1.29 kg [mean ± SE]; 28 days old) were used in a 42-day trial. All pigs were randomly allotted to 1 of 4 treatment diets based on initial BW and sex (9 replicate pens/treatment; 2 gilts and 3 barrows/pen). Dietary treatment groups were as follows CON, basal diet +ZnO 3,000 ppm; BZS, basal diet +ZnO 2,100 ppm +0.1% SynerZymeF10; BZS1, basal diet +ZnO 1,200 ppm +0.1% SynerZymeF10; BZS2, basal diet +ZnO 300 ppm +0.1% SynerZymeF10. During the phase 3, decreasing the ZnO concentration led to a linear reduction in ADG (p = 0.044), and the ADG was lower (p 0.05) on nutrient digestibility, Lactobacillus and E. coli counts, faecal gas emissions and faecal scores. In conclusion, the diet supplementation of ZnO (1,200 ppm) with probiotics complex has been shown to have comparable efficacy to ZnO (3,000 ppm) diet on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, faecal microbiota, noxious gas emissions and faecal score of weaning pigs.

Haemovigilance involves surveillance of the whole chain of blood transfusion with the aim of identifying adverse events and errors and improving outcomes for patients. The Chinese Haemovigilance Network, founded in August 2017, has witnessed a rapid development in the last three years.

Based on the 1,022 cases in 2019, we analysed the adverse reactions (ARs) by blood component, clinical outcome severity and demography of recipients in an effort to publish the first annual Chinese haemovigilance report.

The AR rate associated with blood transfusion in 2019 was 0·2% in China. Allergic reactions and FNHTR were the two most common adverse symptoms, accounting for 97·7% of the reports. Two-thirds of the TAD, AHTR and TACO and all of the HTR and DHTR resulted in hospitalization or prolongation of hospitalization. Plasma and AP were usually associated with allergic reaction (81·1%), whereas red cells more commonly cause FNHTR (68·8%) and all the AHTR, HTR, DSTR and DHTR. 84·1% of patients were aged 16years or over, and the majority of the TAD, AHTR, TACO and HTR involved patients aged 60 and above. The ratio of serious adverse reactions (SARs) was 8·2%. Allergic reaction and FNHTR were top two (85·7%) SARs. The first case related to anti-D immunoglobulin was detected in a DHTR report.

In the decades since endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) for hepatobiliary and pancreatic disease were introduced into clinical practice, there has been increasing interest in these procedures, and practice guidelines and position papers that clearly define the role of ERCP and EUS in children have been published. Based on the distinction of endoscopy between children and adults, this review focuses on the current state of ERCP and EUS procedures in children, including the types of endoscopes used in children, general anesthesia and radiation exposure, biliary and pancreatic indications, considerations of education and training for ERCP and EUS procedures in children, and expectations for development of endoscopes for children.
