The precise control of brassinosteroids (BRs) homeostasis and signaling is a prerequisite for hypocotyl cell elongation in plants. Arabidopsis MYB42 and its paralog MYB85 were previously identified to be positive regulators of secondary cell wall formation during mature stages. Here, we aim to reveal the role of MYB42 and MYB85 in hypocotyl elongation during the seedling stage and clarify how MYB42 coordinates BR homeostasis and signaling to regulate this process.

Histochemical analysis of proMYB42-GUS transgenic plants was used for determination of the MYB42 expression pattern. The MYB42, 85 overexpression, double mutant and some crossing lines were generated for phenotypic observation and transcriptome analysis. Obesity and type 2 diabetes (T2D) are correlated risk factors for chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Using summary data from GIANT (Genetic Investigation of Anthropometric Traits), DIAGRAM (DIAbetes Genetics Replication And Meta-analysis), and CKDGen (CKD Genetics), we examined causality and directionality of the association between obesity and kidney function. Bidirectional 2-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) estimated the total causal effects of body mass index (BMI) and waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) on kidney function, and vice versa. Effects of adverse obesity and T2D were examined by stratifying BMI variants by their association with WHR and T2D. Multivariable MR estimated the direct causal effects of BMI and WHR on kidney function. The inverse variance weighted random-effects MR for Europeans was the main analysis, accompanied by several sensitivity MR analyses.

Moreover, the calculation results show that the density of states (DOS) of iron-containing materials is stronger than that of other materials near the Fermi level, which can promote the catalytic reaction. In addition, O∗OH and O∗H, O∗H and O∗ linearly related theoretical equations are proposed, respectively. We aimed to evaluate the knowledge levels and attitudes of the students of the Department of Health Management about epilepsy.

This descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted with the voluntary participation of 238 health management department students in their first and third years of study who were registered at the Faculty of Health Sciences summer school exam. We collected the data through a research questionnaire form and the Epilepsy Knowledge and Attitude Scales.

Girls accounted for 66.6% (n = 157) all participants, 53.4% of them were 1st year (n = 127), whereas 46.6% (n = 111) were third-year students. Their mean age was 19.97 ± 1.46 years. Among these participants, 52.9% grew in the province (n = 126), 20.6% were smoking, 5% had epilepsy, and 36.6% had relatives with epilepsy. The mean epilepsy knowledge scale score was 5.64 ± 4.41 and the mean epilepsy attitude scale score was 52.55 ± 9.98. The third-year students' epilepsy knowledge score was significantly higher than their first-yeaealth Management about this common chronic disease.

The epilepsy knowledge levels and attitude scale scores of health management students were found to be low. Third-year students were found to have higher knowledge levels than first-year students but there was no statistically significant difference between their attitude scores. More education opportunities should be provided for students of the Department of Health Management about this common chronic disease.

This study was conducted to examine the knowledge of and attitudes toward epilepsy among nursing students.

This descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted with 369 nursing students. Data were collected through an anonymous online questionnaire prepared using the Introductory Information Form, Epilepsy Knowledge Scale (EKS), and Epilepsy Attitude Scale (EAS). Descriptive statistics, the Mann-Whitney U test, Student's t test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson correlation test were used in the data analysis. A p value of 0.05 was considered the threshold for statistical significance.

The sample of the study consisted of nursing students, and more than half of the students (63.4%) were females. 32.2% of the students were third-year students, and the mean age was 21.36 ± 2.12 years. The mean scores obtained on the EKS and the EAS were 10.03 ± 33.21 and 56.39 ± 5.40, respectively. Proteases inhibitor A significant positive correlation was found between the knowledge and attitude scores of the students regarding epilepsy (p < 0.05), and students' attitude scores toward epilepsy increased with increased knowledge of the subject matter. Overall, female students had better knowledge levels and a more positive attitude toward epilepsy than male students (p < 0.05). Further, the students who had witnessed an epileptic seizure, knew someone with epilepsy, or provided care for patients with epilepsy, had higher scores on the EKS, and displayed better knowledge toward epilepsy (p < 0.05).

It may be associated with temporal lobe epilepsy. We present a series of four patients (two female, two male) with hypochondroplasia who presented at our center with drug refractory epilepsy. Clinical details and EEG and MRI findings led to a diagnosis of temporal lobe epilepsy in all four cases. The MRI findings indicate the epilepsy in hypochondroplasia may be associated with bilateral temporal lobe dysgenesis.

We applied the Two-Step cluster analysis on a large cohort of patients with functional seizures (FS). We studied whether the background risk factors differed between the patient clusters.

All patients with a diagnosis of FS were studied at the outpatient epilepsy clinic at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Shiraz, Iran, from 2008 until 2021. The Two-Step cluster analysis was applied considering the age at onset, sex, and seizure semiology. We also studied whether the background risk factors (e.g., a history of sexual abuse, physical abuse, etc.) differed between these patient clusters.

Three-hundred and fifty four patients were studied. The Two-Step cluster analysis was applied to the 230 patients who reported any associated risk factors; there were three clusters of patients. The most prominent feature of cluster 1 included akinetic seizures. The most prominent features of cluster 2 included motor seizures and no ictal injury. The most prominent features of cluster 3 included motor seizures with ictal injury. Compared with patients in cluster 3, a history of sexual abuse was more often reported by patients in cluster 1 (OR 3.26, 95%CI 1.12-9.47; p = 0.03). Compared with patients in cluster 3, a history of physical abuse was less often reported by patients in cluster 2 (OR 0.45, 95%CI 0.22-0.90; p = 0.026).

This study aimed to investigate the factors affecting the unwillingness of physicians involved in epilepsy care to continue telemedicine during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in Japan.

This was a national-level cross-sectional survey initiated by Japan Young Epilepsy Section (YES-Japan) which is a national chapter of The Young Epilepsy Section of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE-YES). We asked physicians who conducted telemedicine in patients with epilepsy (PWE) during the COVID-19 pandemic at four clinics and 21 hospitals specializing in epilepsy care in Japan from March 1 to April 30, 2021. The following data were collected (1) participant profile, (2) characteristics of PWE treated by telemedicine, and (3) contents and environmental factors of telemedicine. Statistically significant variables (p < 0.05) in the univariate analysis were analyzed in a multivariate binary logistic regression model to detect the independently associated factors with the unwillingness to cciated with the unwillingness to continue telemedicine.

We previously reported on the efficacy of a manualized 12-session mindfulness-based therapy (MBT) for psychogenic nonepileptic seizures (PNES). Completion of MBT provided improvements in weekly PNES frequency and self-rated intensity.

In this study, we aimed to determine sustainability of improvement of seizure-related measures at 3- to 6-month follow-up after treatment completion. We also examined changes at treatment end and at follow-up on therapeutic targets of the MBT program.

Patients with documented PNES were recruited from 2014 to 2018. Baseline measures were collected at time of diagnosis (T0) and at first follow-up post-diagnosis (T1). Outcomes are reported at MBT treatment completion (T3) and 3- to 6-month follow-up (T4). The Wilcoxon signed-rank test was used for pair-wise comparisons of PNES frequency; linear mixed models were used for other outcomes.
