Thirty hub DEGs were obtained for further analysis. Twenty-five of the 30 hub DEGs were significantly associated with the prognosis of GC, and 21 of the 25 hub DEGs showed consistent expression trends within the 3 profile datasets. KEGG reanalysis of these 21 hub DEGs showed that COL1A1, COL1A2, COL2A1, COL11A1, THBS2, and SPP1 were mainly enriched in the extracellular matrix-receptor interaction pathways. CONCLUSIONS We identified 6 genes that were significantly related to the prognosis of GC patients. These genes and pathways could serve as potential prognostic markers and be used to develop treatments for GC patients.BACKGROUND Intestinal injury plays a key role in the pathogenesis of severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). In this study, we investigated the protective function of downregulated Gasdermin D (GSDMD) in intestinal damage in a mouse model of severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). MATERIAL AND METHODS Twenty-four healthy male C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into 4 groups - the NS group, the siRNA-NS group, the SAP group, and the siRNA-SAP group - with 6 mice in each group. SAP was induced in mice by intraperitoneal injection of caerulein and lipopolysaccharide. The pathological changes of pancreatic and the intestinal mucosa and the relative gene and protein expressions in each group were compared, and the levels of GSDMD and serum IL-1ß and IL-18 were evaluated after induction of the SAP model. RESULTS The mice in the SAP group were in more serious condition than those in the siRNA-SAP group, with various degrees of edema and hemorrhage in the intestinal tract. Under an optical microscope, the pathological changes of pancreatic tissue such as edema, inflammatory cell infiltration, and the damage of lobular structural were gradually increased in the SAP group and the siRNA-NS group. In addition, intestinal mucosal damage and intestinal villus breakage were found in the SAP group and the siRNA-NS group, and the latter was lighter than the former. Compared with the SAP group, the level of GSDMD protein expression in the siRNA-SAP group was lower, and the serum levels of IL-1ß and IL-18 were higher in the SAP group and siRNA-SAP group (P less then 0.05). Immunohistochemical analysis showed the occludin and ZO-1 proteins in the NS group had a strong brown linear signal, while the brown-positive signals were weaker in the siRNA-SAP group and the SAP group. CONCLUSIONS Downregulating GSDMD protein can reduce pancreatitis associated with pyroptosis.Rhabdomyosarcoma comprises about half of the soft tissue tumors. Approximately 40% of the alveolar subtype occur in the head and neck region. Patients present with unilateral nasal mass with/without lymphadenopathy and with/without orbital manifestations. Diagnosis is aided radiologically by CT scan, MRI along with biopsy and is confirmed by immunohistochemistry. Treatment involves surgical resection, chemotherapy, radiotherapy or a combination of these. In spite of treatments, however, the outcome is poor. This is a case report of 14-year-old male who presented with unilateral nasal mass with proptosis of right eye who was eventually diagnosed as a case of alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma of solid variant.Knowledge of normal as well as variant great saphenous vein is useful as it is the vein that can get varicosed; the vein that is used in bypass surgeries and the vein that is used for cannulation purpose. We observed almost complete duplication of the great saphenous vein in the left lower limb of an adult male cadaver. Both the great saphenous veins arose from the medial end of the dorsal venous arch and coursed parallel to each other throughout the limb. They united in the femoral triangle to form a short (1 inch long) common great saphenous vein. Common great saphenous vein terminated into the femoral vein. There were four communicating veins connecting the two great saphenous veins in the leg, giving the appearance of a venous ladder. Knowledge of this variation could be extremely useful in treatment of varicose veins of lower limb, in catheterizations and in various surgical procedures of the lower limb.Aortic aneurysms are abnormal dilatation of aorta. The risk factors include male sex, age > 65, smoking, coronary artery disease and hypertension. Here we report a case of infra-renal abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) of diameter 6 cm. The patient sucessfully underwent aorto-biiliac bypass surgery using Dacron Y graft. During abdominal aortic aneurysm surgery anesthetic challenge is also of paramount importance and should be considered.Use of tooth as a promising replacement substitute has been validated by various animal as well as human studies. Though widely used in GBR and Sinus grafting techniques, its use in periodontal intrabony defect is not documented. In the present case report, the tooth graft has been placed in periodontal intrabony defect. Postoperative CBCT after 26 weeks revealed homogeneous incorporation of tooth graft. Clinical parameters show bone fill. However; results with larger sample size could further validate the use of tooth graft in periodontal regeneration.Health Care services is considered as an amalgamation between the doctor undergoing the examination and laboratory personnel behind the proper diagnosis of the patient. It has evolved to a large extent from a simple process of examination to handling the prescription to the patient. During this evolution, there has been a remarkable development in the field of laboratory diagnosis. A good laboratory is abided by the rule of quality services including quality control; both internal and external. External quality assessment program contributes to the long term accuracy of the analytical method used by the laboratory. It determines the number of quality element of the practicing laboratory and helps in the upliftment of the status of the laboratory to laboratory accreditation and certification. This review article is intended to review the importance of the external quality assessment program over internalquality control, its need in the laboratory and the current practices in externalquality assessment. selleckchem Medline search was done for the articles published in English language from 1945 to 2018.
