Correspondence in support of Samuel W. Hoskins of Old Town as Agent for the Penobscot Tribe (29-335864-F009-I005-P002.pdf)

for the last ten or twelve years. He has transacted most of the business of the office since mr. Staples has been Agent.

The appointment of Mr. Hoskins would I think give better satisfaction to the Republicans of Penobscot, than any ohter of the candidates.

The Agent I think ought not to reside away from Old town as it subjects the Indians to great inconvenience.

I will not trouble you with any further remarks, only that I am decidedly of the opinion that Mr. Hoskins is the [underlined] man for this appointment as will be more fully shown to you by others.

Very truly yours

Newell Blake
