The Committee on contested elections to whom was referred the certificates of John M Noyes & William Haynes, claiming seats from the towns of Trenton & Eden, made a report in favor of John M Noyes holding a seat in this House - and the report was ordered to lie on the table.

On motion by Mr Steward of Anson Ordered, That the Committee on France be instructed to inquire into the expediency of enacting a general law requiring that all corporations hereafter charted for lucrative purposes, shall annually pay, for the use of the State, a percentage on their dividends on earnings & reserving to the State a right, at ant time within - yeas from the granting of charter, to make investments into the Corporal Stock, not exceeding - percent of the capital. Sent up for concurrence.

On motion by Mr. Buxton of N. Yarmouth Ordered, That this Committee on Finance be instructed to ascertain and report to the House whether a State Tax may not for the ensuing years be dispensed with, and if not at the present time, when it may be dispensed with.

The Committee on engrossed Bills reported as duly engrossed Bill - An Act incorporate Bethel Academy - " authorizing the erection of Dams in the town of Georgetown, County of Lincoln - " authorizing the erection of a dam across Parkers Bay in the town of Phipsburg - " to provide for the sale & distribution of the Ministerial & School Lands in Plantation No1. County of Oxford which were severally passed to be enacted. Sent up for concurrence.
