262. Petitions of Louis A Cazenove & others to be incorporated as the Proprietors of Eastport Saltworks - - of George M Fowle & others to be incorporated by the name of the Eden Granite Company were severally read and referred & to the Committee on Manufactures. Sent up for concurrence.

Petition of Abul H Kennedy & others for a School for the Penobscot Indians was read & referred to the Committee on Literature and Literary Institutions. Sent up for concurrence.

Petition of John R Greenough & others of Bangor to be incorporated as a Mutual Fire Insurance Compy was read & referred to the Committee on Banks & Banking. Sent up for concurrence.

The Committee on engrossed Bills reported as truly engrossed Bill - An Act to incorporate the Maine Atlantic Granite Company - - An Act to incorporate the Maine Granite Company - - An Act to incorporate the York County Granite Company - which were severally passed to be enacted. Sent up for concurrence.

Resolve requiring the Treasurer to pay the members of the Legislature, and distribute the school fund in Gold & Silver, was read a second time & passed to be engrossed as amended on sheet C. and the House decided the question by yeas and nays as follows Yeas 96 Nays 55 [See appendix page 66.] Sent up for concurrence.
