Q. What are the facts in relation to her being taken to another ward A. I stated that she was taken to the sick room where she was properly nursed for about 4 or 5 weeks, and got very nicely and quiet, and quite strong. And it became necessary to have her go back to the ward where she was first, and we accordingly placed her there. And she stayed for a time in the sick room, but was not restored in her mind. When she left the sick room she was not violent particularly but was subject to paroxysious after that and became very uncleanly, so we were then obliged to remove her to another ward below. Q. After the birth how did her condition compare with her condition (line through "below") before as to mind A. She became more demented and is still so. Her mania was paroxysmal or intermittent? A. It was, prior to confinement and afterwards. Q. It was of the same kind at both times A. Yes sir. Q. Was she restored in mind A. No sir.
