It is very often difficult to determine that question by simple palpitation of the bowels; very often difficult patients themselves are in doubt, physicians are in doubt, and all their friends are in doubt many times when advanced as far as that. Q. Would you calculate that giving her mild cathartics, such as oil, under those circumstances, would of itself endanger miscarriage A. It has always been regarded as a safe remedy in diarrhaes. There are some who believe in like inducing like, giving a little laxative hoping to get a good result from that, changing secretions. The rhubarb and oil is as mild a cathartic as we can well give, and it is often given with perfect safety and with good result; depends upon the size of the dose. Q.
