1123 A. Yes sir at times it was very difficult especially in hot weather. Q. In what quantities did the salted meat usually reach you? A. As a general rule I salted the beef, taking it in its fresh state. It was generally good when it came to me in its fresh state. Q. If any of it was bad, what was your duty about it? A. I was told to throw it outdoors. Q. What did you understand by that, throw it outdoors or have it carried away to some suitable place? A. Carried away Q. And then you salted the meat? A, Yes sir chiefly Q. When it was needed as salted meat, you brought it in, cooked it and sent it in as salted meat? A. Yes sir Q. In what form did the fresh meat generally reach you? A.
