1155 By Dr. Oaks Q. Do you know anything about how much fruit is consumed in the hospital? How many apples, for instance? A. There was 1376 bushels of green apples consumed last year Q. Can you tell how much evaporated apple? A. I think it is the some where about 400 cans of apples and about the same amount of evaporated apple, 500 pounds of evaporated and 408 cans of apples, one gallon to a can. There were 730 quarts of strawberries, 3220 of blueberries, and 154 quarts of raspberries and 724 1/2 pounds of raspberries. Some raspberries were bought by the pound and some by the quart. There were also 160 pound of prunes bought last year, not all used at present. About 700 pounds are left. I will say here that it takes about 60 to 75 pounds to send round through the halls for one meal. I am unable to say how often prunes are sent round the halls. But for supper Sunday night we always sent sauce or cheese, or apples, so it comes perhaps once in 3 weeks.
