Richard Cutts Shannon, Civil War diary, Volume 2a (September 1863-January 1865) (rcs-diary-vol2a-062-c.pdf)

 Hart Island

July 17 [?] mustered out &

now recruiting for the 12th. Tenn. Cavalry in Nashville.

Mrs. Davidson presented

me with a fine lot of peas & new potatoes which she brought with her from home - English Neighborhood N.I.- because Mr. Davidson would have it that I was kind to him.

Her two hours talk was

amusing

"Nore, Iosey, sais I, Iosey, tell

the truth".

A good woman
