promised by higher authority he had   we feel
that Capt. Swett might have saved us
some trouble if he had told us in the first
place that those places were to be given to
those that were recruiting for we should
in that case have applied for some other
place which would be as well.  We supposed
that it would render Capt Swett's Battrey
more efficient to have some one who
had experience of the Army Drill and one
who has a large circle of friends to aid
him and who would take pride in 
the matter.  I hope you will pardon
me for intruding upon your time.
