Agreeably to assignment the House proceeded to the choice of a Major General of the Second Division of the Militia of this State.
Messrs. Webster, Libby, Bean of Readfield were appointed a Committee to receive, sort and count the votes, who, having attended to the duty assigned them, reported the whole number of votes given to be one hundred and fifty nine, necessary to constitute an election eighty - Alfred Marshall had one hundred and three votes and was declared elected, and the clerk by message acquainted the Senate therewith.

Bill to incorporate the Congin Manufacturing Company
- to prevent frauds in the inspection of fish
- additional to alter the time of the meeting of the county commissioners in Lincoln County - which were severally passed to be enacted. Sent up

The same committee reported as duly engrossed
Resolve for completing the Baring and Houlton Road
- an additional Resolve in favor of Francis Joseph which were severally finally passed. Sent up.

Resolve in favor of Samuel Chamberlain, laid on the table by Mr. Baxter, was read a first and second time and passed to be engrossed. Sent up for concurrence.

On motion of Mr. Clifford the House went into a secret session - and as soon as the secret session closed, the House adjourned till afternoon.
