October 25th
   To day has been very cold and windy nothing of eny interest has taken place to day. I wrote a letter home this afternoon.

October 26th
   To day is Sunday and it rains very hard. it is the coldest rain storm that I have experienced since we left Maine. my toe's and finger's acke's with the cold. we have only got these little shelter tents to stay in. just big enough for two men to crawl under and sit down. the tents are not large enough for us to stand up straight. so

here we are sitting curled up without eny fire and the cold rain pouring down in torrents. I should like to be to home to day where there is a good dry room and a good warm fire to sit down by: where I should not hear the Bugle sound the Stable Call and where I should not her the command! Boys fall in and feed or water the horses &c. but here I am a Soldier and have got to make the best of it and do my duty like a Soldier and no grumbling I am on Stable guard to night.
