Indians were present, & they belonged on the Township & I do not think there was any from Pleasant Point, at the Secondt meeting there were nine Indians came up from Pleasant Point, great many of the Indians that were at the first meeting Supposed that there would not be another meeting & were away hunting & the vote was very small, the Indians ses they expected the agent to be there at the first meeting, but he did not appear & therefore, they wished me to act for them, and they then wished me to have it printed in some News Paper, but I thought that the Agent Should do it therefore its not printed yet & I think it will not be done & after you take your seat if you think but to have it printed I can have it inserted in the Calais Advertiser. The Indians in the Township elect their Governor & Lieutenant Governor every four years. Governor John Francis at Pleasant Point sed that the former Governors Seem not to pay any regards to their wishes that after they have Signed for a man whom they wish to be agent, that some one would be put in whom they did not want, & he hoped it would not be done again.  He said he knew they had been wronged but he did not know how to prevent it, he is old & wishes help.  He has for a House a frame up & wants help enough from the State to finish it. His Father helped save Machias from the English, he fired upon them with a very long gun & it took effect & I think he said killed the foremost one & then they retreated.
