Dear Genl

    Please when convenient
consult with the Gov in regard to the Forbes
matter at all events get up if possible
as favorable a letter as possible that
I may give the same to his mother who
is truly as you are aware a worthy
woman and in a peck of trouble in
regard to her son

as a Sergeant very gallantly at
the first Bull Run Battle which
for a green volunteer should be
