Dear Sir

I take the liberty
to state that our neighbor
Lieut John Lindsay (Captain
elect of the Militia of this town)
has manifested great interest
for the suppression of the present
Rebellion.  He enlisted with
the members of the Milo Artilary
Company to go into the second
Maine Regiment.

He went to Bangor with the Co.
but learning that but three officers
would be allowed to each Co.
in the regular service he resigned
and came home.  When orders came
