six o'clock and then marched near Faettville 4th We established our camp. Sharp cannonading at Rappahanoc Station. The rebels tried to cross the river and we drove them back taking some prisoners. 5th All quiet today. 6th We had a dress parade at night 7th We had a drill in the A.M. and P.M. 8th We marched to Beverly Ford. 9th Shifted camp to the river in the morning and devine serviss P.M. 10th We drill twice today 11th H Co drill A.M. and Battalion drill P.M. I wrote a letter to my brother Fredrick. 12th We had a verry heavy thunder shower last night 13th Showers in the morning and fair at night 14th Our Regt was paid off. I got $12, and $40 was held for the alastment roll The sulter returned from Washington 15th A detale for fatigue duty. They dug rifle pits on the bank of the river. A detale from as brigade for pickets. I stayed in camp.
