42 Culpepper Friends visit me

24th I saw two my old schoolmates in the afternoon. Haskell and Shepley belonging to the 1st Me Cavelry. Sidney and Prentis called to see me in the evening as their regt was going back to Culpepper. I also see Ellis Frazer for the first time since I got to Va. He is well

25th Nothing of importence today. 26th All quiet along the Rappahannock River 27th Sunday. An inspection at ten A.M. Devine services P.M. 28th We had a review at eleven o'clock A.M. 29th All quiet along the line 30th Had a Brigade drill. Oct 1st All quiet today 2nd It comensed raining in the morning. Clear at night. 3rd A recruting officer was here geting men to go into the 5th Maine Battery 4th A recruiting officer from the 6th Me battery here recruiting. I got a letter from home and returned ans. 5th Still trying to get men into the batterys
