Dismounting of the 1st Me Cavelry 107
My horse fell under me and I came near being hurt.
18th The whole regt is prepairing parade ground. Thair is heavy firing on the right of the line this evening.
19th I expect a part of the 1st Me Cavelry will go the dismounted camp today
20th Cold and cloudy. No news.
21st Wm Gilmore returned from the general hospital this evening. Gen'ls Grant and Mead rode passed here this forenoon. One of the 1st Me Cavelry Maj Dunn of Co E was here today. His Co will be dismounted tomorrow.
22d All quiet on the line

24th Gen Warren passed viewing the works
25th We moved about 4 rods and built new.
26th The [?] are ordered to the rear. The teams have loaded up and it looks like a move.
27th The orders come at three o'clock in the morning to be in readyness to move at moments notice. We got ready (and moved at day light.) We moved to the left and soon began to hear firing in front. We still moved on till we came to the edge of a field where they
