3d We are orderd to have three drills a day. We had a brigade dress parade.

5th A fair day. Had an inspection at nine oclock A.M.

6th Fair and quite frosty. Drill and dress parade regular easy day if fair. Division review P.M.

7th A corps review P.M. Genls Mead and Grant were present. Genl Bartlett has got back to the brigade

10th A rainy day. I got a pass and went to City Point. found a friend and went to the first Me Sharpshooters and see Nevel Smith

11th G. F. Walker [Gustavus F Walker] and I started to the front, and the car broke down but did not hurt any one. We walked four miles to the next station, and saw a guard fire at a prisoner that was trying to escape from him. The cars came and we took passage to the front.
