Bro Hodsdon--

Some ten days ago I sent you the Duplicate Receipts of Hannah E Lancaster, widow of Levi E Lancaster--also Duplicates signed by Martha A Burgess widow of Tolman [?] Burgess both Privates in Company (C) 2nd Me Regt and both killed at Bull Run-- to draw the $5.13 due from the State--

I have not heard from Either case and feel a little uneasy--for fear your letter may have miscarried.

I presume you are greatly pressed by official Business-- But I shall be glad to hear from you in behalf of these two poor widows-- . Truly yrs C P. Brown
