Dear Sir having been acquainted with Frank S. Trickey of Bangor (son on your friend Thos. Trickey) who has been in actual service for the last fifteen months in the Maine 2nd Regt and has distinguished himself by his brave conduct-- I would take pleasure in recommending him to you for Major of the 20th regiment now being raised in the State and if there is no other one been appointed would say he would make an efficient and as good an officer as could be found in any of the regiments of the army
