Dear Sir
I wish you to inform me if Robert J. Athearn of Co. E 2nd Regt of Me. Vols who was wounded at the battle of Gaines Mills June 27, 1862 and reported in Oct. as sick of wounds in hospital - the name of hospital not given or its location, has been since reported to you. His Parents are anxious and suppose him to be dead.
