Dear Sir:
I write in behalf of Doct. John F. Pratt of this place, who is desirous of securing the appointment of Assistant Surgeon in one of the Regiments about to be raised in this State. I confess I have an interest in the Doct. he is my son-in-law. I am solicitous, therefore, for his present and future success, as you may well suppose. He belongs to a good family, his parents still living in Greene. He has been in Practice as a Physician and surgeon several years in this place with good success and will without
